Glenside, PA, (May 3, 2006) – The DeSales University softball team finished its 2006 season with two losses at Arcadia University in non-conference action on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs dropped game one, 6-2, and fell in game two, 6-5, as the Scarlet Knights (33-7 overall) rallied in the bottom of the seventh for two runs in game two.  The sweep concludes the season with a 12-23 overall record.

In game one, the Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead in the third inning when senior Jenna Rau (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland) hit a two-run home run scoring freshman Maddie Roxandich (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic).  Those runs were all DSU was able to get though as Arcadia scored twice in both the fourth and fifth innings and once more in the sixth for the 6-2 win.  Junior Elise Wilk (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy) took the loss allowing 10 hits and four earned runs over six innings.

In game two, the Bulldogs rallied from a 4-0 deficit with five runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 5-4 lead only to see the Scarlet Knights answer with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to get tally the 6- win.

Freshman Jamie Pfitzenmayer (Annandale, NJ/Hunterdon Central) had the big blow in the top of the seventh with a three-run double scoring freshman Kelly Moran (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic), junior Casey Horvath (Hunlock Creek, PA/Lake-Lehman) and Roxandich.  Moran, who had two hits in the game two loss, also drove in a run as did Wilk with an RBI ground out in the seventh.

Junior Jennifer Cybularz (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Carroll) took the loss allowing eight hits but just one earned run to go along with five strikeouts.  DSU made eight errors in the game.
