Annville, PA (September 12, 2006) – The DeSales University men’s soccer team dropped its second straight game, 2-1, at Lebanon Valley College on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.
The Bulldogs (2-2 overall) took a brief 1-0 lead very early in the game as sophomore David Ackley (North Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May) scored at the 6:24 mark off an assist from senior Randy Sturm (North Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May).
The lead was short-lived however as the Flying Dutchmen (2-2 overall) tied the game at one on a goal from Justin Hutchinson at the 7:41 mark, just 1:17 after DSU’s marker. The game remained tied until the 36th minute when Jeremy Bicking scored his second goal of the season to make it a 2-1 game and that ended the scoring.
LVC out-shot DSU, 23-15, and also held an 8-3 advantage on corner kicks. Junior Rusty Riedmiller (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) made eight saves for the Bulldogs, while his counterpart John Mentzer tallied five saves.
DSU returns to the field on Thursday, September 14th when they travel to Gwynedd-Mercy College for another non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
