DSU Field Hockey falls at Elizabethtown, 6-1

Junior Jen Pulcini scored the lone goal in the 6-1 loss at Elizabethtown College on Wednesday evening.
 
Elizabethtown, PA (September 13, 2006) – The DeSales University field hockey team fell to 0-2 on the road this season with a 6-1 loss at Elizabethtown College on Wednesday afternoon.
 
        A close game at halftime was blown open early in the second half as the Blue Jays (5-0 overall) scored three goals in the first seven minutes of the second stanza to extend a 1-0 halftime lead into a 4-0 lead.  Laura Rinck, Brenna Noon and Jen Pechart scored three second-half goals and Andrea Miles added the insurance with two goals within two minutes of each other to make it 6-0.
 
        DSU got on the board at the 68:38 mark as junior Jen Pulcini (Easton, PA/Easton) scored off an assist from senior Bethany Hepner (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh).  E-Town out-shot the Bulldogs, 16-5, and held a 9-3 advantage in penalty corners.  Freshman Molly Pope (Elkridge, MD/Long Reach) made seven saves in between the pipes.
 
        The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, September 16th as they host Drew University in the first Freedom Conference game of the season.  Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
