Gwynedd-Valley, PA (September 13, 2006) – The DeSales University women’s soccer team found themselves in a defensive battle on Wednesday evening and seemed destined to play overtime for the first time this season but a late goal by Gwynedd-Mercy College spoiled the afternoon and DSU fell 1-0 in non-conference action.
Kristin Book scored the game-winner at the 85:48 mark on an assist by Dana Landis. Defense was at a premium in this game as both teams were only able to record four shots in the contest. The Griffins (2-1 overall) held a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks over the Bulldogs (0-4 overall).
Senior Kelly Hinkle (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) made two stops in between the pipes, while her counterpart, Colleen Amici, only needed to make one save in recording the shutout.
DSU returns to action on Saturday, September 16th as they host Neumann College in a non-conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
