Doylestown, PA (September 21, 2006) – For the second straight game sophomore Dana Eustace (Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Township) scored a late goal to break a tie and lead the DeSales University women’s soccer team to a win, this time over Delaware Valley College, 1-0, in Freedom Conference action.
Eustace scored the goal off a feed from junior Kelly DiFrancesco (Blairstown, NJ/Pope John XXIII) at the 73:44 mark of the second half. The marker ties sophomore Nicole Pietrobon (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) for the team lead with four tallies.
The Bulldogs (3-4, 1-0 Freedom) out-shot the Aggies (0-7-1, 0-1-1 Freedom) 16-6 and held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Bulldog defense led by junior sweeper Danielle Schlupp (Holland, PA/Council Rock South), senior Jessica Tate (Warrington, PA/Mount St. Joseph Academy), senior Liz Wal (Philadelphia, PA/Little Flower) and sophomore Stefanie Geronimo (Middletown, NJ/Mater Dei) helped limit DVC to just six shots on senior goalkeeper Kelly Hinkle (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) who made two saves to record her first shutout of the season.
DeSales returns to action on Tuesday, September 26th when they travel to FDU-Florham for another Freedom Conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
