Field Hockey falls to #11 Lebanon Valley, 9-2

Sophomore Amanda Deal scored twice in DSU's 9-2 loss at Lebanon Valley on Saturday.

Annville, PA (September 30, 2006) – The DeSales University field hockey team traveled to 11th ranked Lebanon Valley College on Saturday afternoon and fell to the Flying Dutchmen, 9-2, in a non-conference game.

Sophomore Amanda Deal (Macungie, PA/Whitehall) scored both DeSales’ (6-4 overall) goals in the loss.  She now has six goals for 12 points and is tied for second on the team in scoring.  Junior Jen Pulcini (Easton, PA/Easton) added an assist on the second goal to give her seven goals and eight assists for 22 points on the year.

Lebanon Valley (7-1 overall) out-shot DSU, 34-22, and held a 13-10 edge in penalty corners.  The Bulldogs were able to put some offensive pressure on the 11th ranked team in country but were unable to control them on the defensive end of the field as the Flying Dutchmen scored nine times which marks the most goals DSU has allowed since the program started in 2004.  Freshman Molly Pope (Elkridge, MD/Long Reach) made six saves in between the pipes.

The Bulldogs will return to the field on Tuesday, October 3rd when they host Ramapo College in another non-conference battle beginning at 4:30 pm.
