Volleyball drops Second Straight, 3-0, at Widener

Junior Gia Zimmerman totaled a team-high 24 digs in the 3-0 loss at Widener on Wednesday evening.
 
Chester, PA (September 6, 2006) – The DeSales University volleyball team dropped its second straight match on Wednesday evening falling to Widener University, 3-0 (30-24, 32-30, 30-28), to fall to 2-4 on the season.
 
        The Bulldogs played well and actually led 28-20 in the second game before falling 32-30.  Leading the attack was freshman Jen Mellon (Media, PA/Penncrest) with a team-high 11 kills and junior Allie Boyer (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) with 10 kills.  Junior Gia Zimmerman (Blandon, PA/Reading Central Catholic) had a team-high 24 digs, sophomore Sharon Uliana (Fleetwood, PA/Reading Central Catholic) totaled 32 assists and had 13 digs and freshman Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) tallied eight kills and nine digs.

         DSU returns to action on Saturday when they travel to William Paterson University for three matches.  The Bulldogs will also take on Cabrini College and St. Joseph’s College (NY).  The action is scheduled to start at Noon.
