Pomona, NJ (September 8, 2006) – Senior Randy Sturm (North Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May) scored the lone goal of the game in the 28th minute to lead the DeSales University men’s soccer team past William Paterson University in the first game of the Seashore Classic at Richard Stockton College on Friday evening.
Sturm’s tally gives him 79 career points and 32 career goals. Sophomore Andrew Marshall (Greene, NY/Greene Central) earned on the assist on the goal. The Bulldogs had just six shots to the Pioneers (3-1 overall) 10 but the defense held WPU in check to help junior Rusty Riedmiller (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) record his first shutout of the season. Riedmiller made six saves in the win.
The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow as they take on the hosts, Richard Stockton College, in the second game of the Seashore Classic beginning at 3:00 pm.
