Reading, PA, (September 9, 2006) – The DeSales University women’s tennis team stayed unbeaten on Saturday afternoon traveling to Albright College and coming away with an 8-1 win over the Lions.
Junior Courtney McClurkin (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford) again led the way as she improved to 4-0 at the No. 1 singles spot with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Marissa Cooperman. McClurkin also teamed with fellow junior Mary Kate McElvaney (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert) to win 8-1 at the No. 1 doubles spot and McElvaney earned a win at the No. 3 singles spot, 6-0, 6-3.
Junior Liz Guidon (Northampton, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) and sophomore Caitlin Gerlach (Oak Ridge, NJ/West Milford) also earned two points as Guidon won at the No. 2 spot, 6-0, 6-1, Gerlach won at the No. 4 spot, 6-4, 6-0 and they teamed to win 8-3 at the second doubles spot.
Freshman Nickie Brackbill (Paradise, PA/Pequea Valley) earned a win at the No. 5 singles position, 6-0, 6-0 and sophomore Jess Ruhl (East Earl, PA/Garden Spot) won at the No. 6 spot, 6-1, 7-5.
The Bulldogs put their unbeaten record on the line again on Tuesday, September 12th when they host FDU-Florham in a Freedom Conference game beginning at 4:30 pm.
