Madison, NJ (January 10, 2007) – One game after shooting 53 percent in a win at home, the DeSales University men’s basketball team connected on just 26.8 percent from the floor, snapping its eight game winning streak with a 72-38 loss at FDU-Florham on Wednesday evening at the Ferguson Recreation Center.
The Devils (10-4, 2-1 Freedom) used a 25-7 run over the last 12:39 of the first half to take a 40-21 lead at the break and never looked back in the second half as the Bulldogs (10-3, 2-1 Freedom) were ice cold from the floor the entire game and never got anything going on the offensive end of the floor.
DSU finished the game shooting just 15-of-56 from the floor, just 1-for-16 (6.3 %) from three-point land and just 7-for-18 (38.9 %) from the charity stripe. The Bulldogs also turned the ball over 20 times and were out-rebounded 49-35.
Junior Phil Stricker (Womelsdorf, PA/Conrad Weiser) was the lone Bulldog in double digits with 14 points. Freshman Darnell Braswell (Allentown, PA/William Allen) totaled six points and a team-high seven rebounds and sophomore Eddie Ohlson (Allentown, PA/Parkland) totaled six assists in the loss.
The Devils were led by Brian Rimol who registered a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Ryan McPherson had 14 points; Frank Emslie added 13 tallies and Andrew Biancosino had 10 points off the bench in the win.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday, January 13th when they travel to Wilkes University for another Freedom Conference game beginning at 3:00 pm.
