Center Valley, PA (January 24, 2007) – Four players reached double digits and the DeSales University women’s basketball team shot 47.8 percent from the field returning to the win column with a 90-64 win over Lycoming College in Freedom Conference action on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.
The win improves DeSales to 14-4 overall and 6-1 in the Freedom Conference, while the Warriors fall to 5-13 overall and 0-7 in the conference standings. DSU forced 26 LC turnovers and out-rebounded Lycoming, 47-32, in the game. DSU shot 51.4 percent in the second half opening up as much as a 29-point lead before setting for the 26-point win.
Sophomore LeighAnn Burke (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) scored a game-high 20 points, 15 in the second half, including a 4-for-8 performance from outside the arc. Senior Kirby Lutz (Easton, PA/Pen Argyl) returned to total 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists, junior Amanda Kuperavage (Port Carbon, PA/Nativity BVM) totaled 12 points, three assists and three steals and sophomore Kim Rarick (Ringtown, PA/North Schuylkill) rounded out the double figure scorers with 12 points and added seven assists.
Off the bench junior Jenna Stampf (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame) totaled seven points and a game-high 10 rebounds and freshman Caitlin Miller (Fogelsville, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) finished with eight points and seven boards in the win.
Lycoming saw three players reach double digits including Andrea Cooper with 13 points, Allison Mock with 11 points and Michelle Wisla with 10 tallies.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday, January 27th when they host Wilkes University in another Freedom Conference beginning at 1:00 pm.
