Allentown, PA, (January 26, 2007) – The DeSales University men’s track and field team took home second place out of six teams at the Muhlenberg College Invitational held on Friday evening on the campus of Muhlenberg College.
Junior Jeremy Morse (Ashland, MA/Ashland) was among the top finishers for the Bulldogs taking home first place in the high jump (6-04.00 feet), sixth place in the long jump (19-00.00 feet) and second place in the 55-meter hurdles (8.67).
Freshman Justin Del Piano (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick) joined fellow freshman Nick Staats (Montrose, PA/Montrose Area) to take home first and second place in the pole vault with jumps of 12-01.00 for Del Piano and 12-00.00 for Staats.
Also in the field events sophomore Evan Klees (Riverside, PA/Danville) took fourth place in the long jump (19-05.50), senior Gabe Gigliotti (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum) took first place in the shot put (45-01.00) and freshman Steve Modrow (Forty Foot, PA/Wyoming Valley West) took second place in the shot put (43-10.75).
In the track events sophomore Phil Leaman (East Earl, PA/Garden Spot) was third in the one mile run (4:48.52) and freshman Bobby Bacon (Broomall, PA/Marple Newtown) was fifth in the one mile run in a time of 4:49.51.
Freshman Ryan Hoffman (Philadelphia, PA/Cardinal Dougherty) took home third place in the 55-meter dash (6.88), junior Frank McClatchy (Exton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) was second in the 800-meter run (2:07.46), freshman Eric Yeager (Nazareth, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) was third in the 800-meters (2:09.56) and senior John Deas (Haverford, PA/Archbishop Carroll) rounded out the top finishers in fourth place in the 400-meters in a time of 54.59 seconds.
The Bulldogs return to the track on Saturday, February 3rd when they travel to East Stroudsburg University for the DeSchriver Invitational beginning at 10:00 am.
