Fehnel leads DeSales to Tri-Match Sweep

Freshman Kylie Fehnel totaled 20 kills and eight blocks in the tri-match sweep on Saturday.

Center Valley, PA (October 13, 2007) – Freshman Kylie Fehnel (Nazareth, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) totaled a team-high 20 kills and had eight blocks leading the DeSales University volleyball team past PSU-Berks, 3-0 (30-7, 30-17, 30-8), and Albright College, 3-0 (30-12, 30-12, 32-30), in a non-conference tri-match on Saturday afternoon in Billera Hall.
 
        In the first match of the day Fehnel totaled seven kills and five blocks (four solo) to lead the attack, while junior Joann Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) led the team with 11 kills and four service aces. Sophomore Jen Mellon (Media, PA/Penncrest) also finished with seven kills, freshman Alyssa Poplaski (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) had a team-high 14 digs and junior Sharon Uliana (Fleetwood, PA/Reading Central Catholic) dished out 28 assists.
 
        In the second match, Fehnel carried the Bulldogs totaling 13 kills, nine digs and three solo blocks. Mellon added 10 kills, sophomore Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) had 24 digs, Poplaski added 14 digs and Uliana finished with 37 assists and six service aces. Senior Allie Boyer (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) came off the bench to finish with seven kills and eight digs in the win.

        DeSales (16-6 overall) earns its 16th win on Saturday marking the most wins for the volleyball program since the 1998 season. The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, October 16th when they travel to Manhattanville College for a Freedom Conference match beginning at 7:00 pm.
