Madison, NJ (October 13, 2007) – The DeSales University men's soccer team settled for a 1-1 double overtime tie on Saturday afternoon at FDU-Florham in a Freedom Conference game.
DeSales (5-8-2, 2-0-1 Freedom) out-shot FDU-Florham (6-6-2, 0-1-1 Freedom), 20-10, and held an 8-7 edge in corner kicks but was unable to better the Devils on the scoreboard and had to settle for a tie on the road.
Sophomore Dustin Sturm (North Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May) got the Bulldogs on the board early as Sturm took a pass from junior Tim Hall (Montclair, VA/Bishop Ireton) and recorded his fifth goal of the season just 2:32 into the game.
The lead stood for the next 29 minutes before the Devils tied the game on an unassisted goal from Kyle Meacham at the 31:22 mark. Meacham's goal ended the scoring as both teams had chances to break the tie but were unable to find the back of the net.
Senior Rusty Riedmiller (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) returned to the net, making seven saves in the tie for the Bulldogs.
DSU returns to action on Tuesday, October 16th when they host Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference game beginning at 3:00 pm.
