Madison, NJ (October 13, 2007) – The DeSales University women's soccer lost its third straight one-goal game falling to FDU-Florham, 2-1, in two overtimes in a Freedom Conference game on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (3-10-1, 0-3 Freedom) have been snake bitten in last few weeks losing three straight one-goal games. The Devils (5-8, 1-1 Freedom) held a slim 14-12 edge in shots and a 10-7 advantage on corner kicks.
DSU grabbed a 1-0 lead early in the second half as junior Jessica Baker (Churchville, PA/St. Basil Academy) scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season but the lead was short lived as the Devils countered the with tying marker just 3:21 later as Brittany Kanickij scored unassisted to tie the game.
Both teams went scoreless for the rest of the second half and all of the first overtime before FDU-Florham scored the game-winner with just 4:07 left in the second overtime as Kanickij scored her second of the game off an assist from Megan Sweeney.
Sophomore Katie Halpin (Easton, PA/Notre Dame) made nine saves in the loss for the Bulldogs, while her counterpart Amanda Buyes also had nine stops.
The Bulldogs will look to reverse its recent trend on Thursday, October 18th when they host Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference game beginning at 3:00 pm.
