Purchase, NY (October 16, 2007) – Freshman Kylie Fehnel (Nazareth, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) continued her hot play leading the DeSales University volleyball team past Manhattanville College, 3-0 (30-8, 30-12, 30-12), in a Freedom Conference match on Tuesday evening.
The win moves DSU one win away of earning the top seed in the Freedom Conference playoffs and improves its record to 17-6 overall and 5-0 in the Freedom. The Bulldogs host FDU-Florham in the final regular season Freedom Conference game next Wednesday with the winner taking home the top seed in the playoffs and earning the right to play at home in the postseason.
Fehnel finished with a team-high 18 kills and added three blocks in the win. Junior Joann Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) added 10 kills, while sophomore Jen Mellon (Media, PA/Penncrest) and freshman Lauren Pacenta (Pottsville, PA/Nativity BVM) each added six kills.
Junior Sharon Uliana (Fleetwood, PA/Reading Central Catholic) had 42 assists and eight digs, sophomore Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) had four aces and 13 digs, freshman Alyssa Poplaski (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) totaled 12 digs and senior Allie Boyer (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) totaled five aces and six digs.
DeSales returns to action on Friday evening when they travel to Elizabethtown College for a tri-match with the Blue Jays and Philadelphia Biblical University beginning at 6:00 pm.
