BOX SCORE

Center Valley, PA (October 18, 2007) – The DeSales University women's soccer team kept its playoff hopes alive with a 2-0 shutout of Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference game on Thursday afternoon.

The Aggies (5-9-2, 0-3-1 Freedom) held a slim 11-9 edge in shots and a 7-2 advantage on corner kicks but the Bulldogs (4-10-1, 1-3 Freedom) were the ones able to put the ball in the back of the net scoring twice and blanking DVC for their first shutout of the season.

Freshman Jill Yetter (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) got DSU on the board as her free kick from the right end line just outside the box sailed over the Aggie keeper's head and into the back corner of the net for her second goal of the year at the 36:33 mark.

The score remained 1-0 into halftime and the Bulldogs got their insurance goal at the 54:30 mark when freshman Kaitlyn Gover (Northampton, PA/Northampton) scored her third goal of the year taking a pass from junior Katie Dishman (Nazareth, PA/Pen Argyl) just inside the box on the left side, beat one defender and fired a shot just over the keeper's head into the net.

Sophomore Katie Halpin (Easton, PA/Notre Dame) continued her excellent play in recent weeks making four saves to earn her first career shutout. Freshman Jena Meaney (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph Hill Academy), senior Danielle Schlupp (Holland, PA/Council Rock South), freshman Amanda Ziegler (Aston, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) and junior Jessica Baker (Churchville, PA/St. Basil Academy) also all played well on defense helping Halpin record the first shutout of the year.

DSU returns to action with another important Freedom Conference game on Saturday, October 20th when they host Manhattanville College beginning at 12:30 pm.
