Volleyball Continues Streak, Tops Widener for Ninth Straight Win

Junior Sharon Uliana had 52 assists and 21 digs and freshman Kylie Fehnel totaled 14 kills and four blocks in the win over Widener.

Center Valley, PA (October 4, 2007) – The DeSales University volleyball team continued to play some terrific volleyball as the Bulldogs won their ninth straight match defeating Widener University, 3-1 (30-25, 27-30, 30-15, 30-16), in a non-conference match on Thursday evening.
 
        The win streak is the longest since the 1997 season when DSU won 10-straight. DSU once again used a balanced attack led by junior Joann Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) with a team-high 16 kills, sophomore Jen Mellon (Media, PA/Penncrest) with 15 kills and freshman Kylie Fehnel (Nazareth, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) with 14 kills. Rivera added 11 digs and Fehnel had four blocks.
 
        Also contributing was sophomore Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) with a match-high 32 digs, freshman Lauren Pacenta (Pottsville, PA/Nativity BVM) with nine kills and two blocks, junior Ashley Grube (Orwigsburg, PA/Blue Mountain) with seven kills and one block, freshman Alyssa Poplaski (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) with 15 digs, senior Allie Boyer (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) with 12 digs and four service aces and junior Sharon Uliana (Fleetwood, PA/Reading Central Catholic) with 52 assists, two aces and 21 digs.

          DSU will look to tie the longest winning streak since the 1997 season on Saturday, October 6th when they travel to Messiah College for a non-conference match beginning at 1:00 pm.
