Reyes lifts Mens Soccer past Arcadia 1-0 in Freedom Opener

Junior German Reyes scored his fifth goal of the season in the win over Arcadia.

Glenside, PA (October 6, 2007) – Junior German Reyes (Beach Lake, PA/Honesdale) scored the lone goal of the game with 15 minutes left to lift the DeSales University men's soccer team past Arcadia University, 1-0, in the Freedom Conference season opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon.

Reyes goal is the fifth of the season as he took a pass from fellow junior Chris Ravita (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon) and broke the scoreless tie at the 74:45 mark of the game. An evenly matched game saw Arcadia out-shot the Bulldogs 9-8 and hold a 3-2 edge in corners but DSU (4-8-1, 1-0 Freedom) managed the only goal to secure the conference victory.

Sophomore Kevin Lawrence (Norristown, PA/Kennedy-Kenrick) made four saves in goal for the Bulldogs as he made just his second start of the season in between the pipes.

The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, October 10^th when they host Wilkes University in another Freedom Conference game beginning at 3:30 pm.
