Bulldogs blank FDU-Florham in Womens Tennis

Senior Liz Guidon earned wins at the No. 2 singles and doubles position on Saturday.

Madison, NJ (October 6, 2007) – The DeSales University women's tennis team earned its second straight shutout win blanking FDU-Florham, 9-0, in a Freedom Conference match on Saturday afternoon.
 
        The win improves the Bulldogs to 7-3 overall and 4-1 in the Freedom as DSU wraps-up the #2 seed in the Freedom Conference playoffs which will take place during the spring of 2008 this season under the new Freedom Conference rules. When the spring arrives, DeSales will take on King's College who defeated Manhattanville College this afternoon and earned the #3 seed in the playoffs. Wilkes University, the #1 seed, will take on the #4 seed, Manhattanville College in the other semifinal.
 
        Senior Courtney McClurkin (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford) led the way once again winning by retirement in singles and 8-4 in doubles teaming with fellow senior Mary Kate McElvaney (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert).
 
        Other singles winners included senior Liz Guidon (Northampton, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) at the No. 2 spot, freshman Kate Steiner (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) at the No. 3 spot, freshman Jess Smith (Abbottstown, PA/Delone Catholic) at the No. 4 spot, freshman MaryKate Boylan (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South) at the No. 5 spot and sophomore Nickie Brackbill (Paradise, PA/Pequea Valley) at the No. 6 spot.
 
        In doubles action, Guidon teamed with Smith to win 8-0 at the No. 2 spot and Boylan teamed with Steiner to win 8-0 at the No. 3 spot.

         The Bulldogs will return to action on Tuesday, October 9th when they host Albright College in a non-conference match beginning at 3:00 pm.
