BOX SCORE

Baltimore, MD (November 10, 2007) – The DeSales University men's soccer suffered a heartbreaking loss falling to Johns Hopkins University, 1-0, in the second overtime in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday evening at Homewood Field.

The loss finishes DSU's season at 10-10-3 overall, while the Blue Jays advance to the next round to face the winner of the Franklin & Marshall/North Carolina Wesleyan game on Sunday evening. Hopkins out-shot the Bulldogs, 21-4, in the game and had a 10-5 advantage on corner kicks.

Senior Rusty Riedmiller (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) and the DSU defense was terrific the entire game as they kept Hopkins in check thru the first 100 minutes but the Blue Jays struck just 43 seconds into the second overtime as freshman Scott Bukoski headed home a shot off a feed from Nathan Wysk to end the game and DSU's upset bid.

Riedmiller made 12 saves in the loss, many of which were sensational. The defense which consisted of sophomore Tony Aufiero (Wall, NJ/Wall), sophomore Thomas Sparango (Salfordville, PA/Souderton), junior Tim Hall (Montclair, VA/Bishop Ireton) and junior Chris Ravita (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon) were equally as tough on defense all night long frustrating JHU for most of the game.

The goal snapped a team scoreless streak that lasted 430:39 which broke the previous team record set during the 2001 season and also snapped a personal scoreless streak for Riedmiller at 437:53 which broke his own individual record.
