Center Valley, PA, (November 20, 2007) – The DeSales University women's basketball used a late first-half run to open up a big lead and never looked back snapping a two-game losing streak to local rival Moravian College with a convincing 90-67 win over the Greyhounds in a non-conference game on Tuesday evening in Billera Hall.

The Bulldogs (3-0 overall) have now won three straight games to start the season for the first time since the 2002-03 campaign and score 80+ points in three straight games for the first time since a five-game stretch in the 1999-00 season. Moravian falls to 1-2 overall with the loss as DSU dominated the Greyhounds on the glass holding a 50-31 edge and forced a season-high 30 turnovers, leading to 31 points.

DeSales held a slim 19-18 lead with 8:14 to go in the first half when the Bulldog offense caught fire and rallied off a 17-3 run to end the half giving the hosts a 36-21 lead at the break. Back-to-back lay-ups from sophomore Kaila Wiand (Royersford, PA/Spring-Ford) started the run and senior Jenna Stampf (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame) finished the spurt with two free throws and a lay-in to end the half.

Moravian trimmed the lead down to nine points early in the second half but a quick 12-3 run pushed the lead to 18 points and went as high as 26 tallies in the second half as DSU cruised home with its third straight victory.

Five players reached double digits including junior Kim Rarick (Ringtown, PA/North Schuylkill) who equaled her career-high with 21 points on a perfect 11-of-11 effort from the foul line. Stampf finished with 14 points off the bench on 5-of-6 shooting and Wiand totaled 12 points and added four assists.

Junior LeighAnn Burke (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) had a tremendous all-around game as she flirted with a quadruple-double with a final stat line that read 12 points, six rebounds, seven assists and seven steals. Sophomore Caitlin Miller (Fogelsville, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) recorded her second double-double of the season and the fourth of her career with 10 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, nine of which were offensive.

Senior Amanda Kuperavage (Port Carbon, PA/Nativity BVM) finished with eight points and sophomore Kelly Magrann (Sinking Spring, PA/Holy Name) chipped in with six points off the bench in the win.

The Greyhounds also had five players in double digits including Kate Harrison with a team-high 14 points, Emily Smith and Kirsty Stearns with 11 points and Lauren Fornazor and Amanda Brown with 10 points.

The Bulldogs have a well deserved few days off for the Thanksgiving holidays and will return to game action on Tuesday, November 27th when they travel to Gwynedd-Mercy College for a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
