Women’s Track and Field Competes at Susquehanna Invitational

Senior Michelle Rehnert took home third place in the weight throw on Saturday afternoon.
Selinsgrove, PA (February 17, 2007) – The DeSales University women’s track and field team traveled to Susquehanna University on Saturday afternoon to compete in the Susquehanna University Invitational.  No team scoring was kept during the event.
 
        Among the top performers for the Bulldogs were freshman Alessandro LaMastro (Flanders, NJ/Pope John XXIII) who took home third place in the one mile run in a time of 5:37.08.  Fellow freshman Beth Malseed (Claymont, DE/Archmere Academy) took home sixth place in the 5,000-meters in a time of 21:42.06 and senior Nikki Sansone (Chester Springs, PA/Bishop Shanahan) rounded out the top performers in the running events with a ninth place showing in the 55-meter hurdles (9.43 seconds).
 
        In the field events, freshmen Kaitlin Hahn (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) and Meghan Weber (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) each home top finishes in two events.  Hahn was third in the high jump (4-11.75 feet) and ninth in the triple jump (31-11.50 feet), while Weber was eighth in the shot put (33-01.25 feet) and sixth in the weight throw (38-04.75 feet).
 
        Freshman Amanda Sell (Oley, PA/Oley Valley) was seventh in the high jump (4-07.75 feet), freshman Samantha Ward (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) was second in the pole vault (8-11.75 feet), freshman Shannon Webb (Bensalem, PA/Archbishop Ryan) was fourth in the pole vault (8-06.00 feet), freshman Amanda Torok (Souderton, PA/Souderton) was sixth in the pole vault (8-00.00 feet) and senior Michelle Rehnert (Pottsville, PA/Nativity BVM) had an excellent showing taking third place in the weight throw with a toss of 42-04.25 feet.

         The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, February 24th when they travel back to Susquehanna University for the MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
