Immaculata, PA (March 21, 2007) – Eight different Bulldogs scored goals as the DeSales University men’s lacrosse team shook off its second loss of the season on Monday with a 17-9 win over Immaculata University in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.
The win improves DeSales to 4-2 overall and the Mighty Macs fall to 0-2 on the season with the loss. DSU held a 46-19 edge in total shots and won 21 of the 29 face-offs. Junior Sam Gobeli (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Curley) had the most impressive game scoring two goals, winning 20-of-26 face-offs and grabbing a single-game record 20 ground balls. The previous record was 18 ground balls held by Dylan Beese.
Sophomores
Danny Larkin (Holladay, UT/Olympus) and
Joshua Van Hart (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) each scored four goals to lead the offensive attack. Junior
Dan Thomer (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) and sophomore
Matthew Brancaccio (Greenvale, NY/North Shore) added two goals and sophomore
Ricky Larkin (Holladay, UT/Olympus), sophomore
Andrew Ervin (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) and freshman
Adam Eddinger (Bally, PA/Boyertown) each scored once to round out the Bulldogs goal scorers.
Thomer dished out three assists, Brancaccio had two helpers and D. Larkin finished off the scoring with one assist. Freshman Jarryd Stamatelos (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) made eight saves in between the pipes for the Bulldogs.
DSU returns to action on Saturday, March 24th when they host Susquehanna University in an MAC Conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
