Men’s Tennis Wins Freedom Conference Opener, 6-3, over Lycoming

Junior Jon Kindred was a double winner at No. 5 singles and No. 3 doubles on Saturday afternoon.
 
Williamsport, PA (March 24, 2007) – The DeSales University men’s tennis team bounced back from a season opening loss on Thursday to record a 6-3 win over Lycoming College in the Freedom Conference season opener on Saturday afternoon in Williamsport, PA.
 
        DSU (1-1, 1-0 Freedom) started the day with two wins in the doubles competition to take a 2-1 lead.  Junior Eric Chernutta (Royersford, PA/Phoenixville) and junior Antony May (Lowell, MA/Lowell Catholic) started things off with an 8-2 win at the No. 2 doubles spot and freshman Daniel Bullen (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vranney) teamed with junior Jon Kindred (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame) at the No. 3 doubles spot to post an 8-1 win.
 
        In singles competition, senior Ernie Justice (Blue Ball, PA/Garden Spot) earned a win at the No. 2 spot, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4, Mat won 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 4 spot, Kindred posted a 6-0, 6-2 win at the No. 5 spot and Bullen rounded things out with a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 6 spot.

         The Bulldogs are scheduled to return to action on Monday, March 26th when they travel to Muhlenberg College for a non-conference match beginning at 3:00 pm.
