Little Falls, NJ (March 25, 2007) – The DeSales University softball returned to action for the first time in 17 days falling to Montclair State, 7-0 and 6-1 in a non-conference doubleheader on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
In game one, MSU (11-2 overall) scored all seven of its runs in the first three innings and the Bulldogs (4-4 overall) managed just four hits in the loss. Senior Elise Wilk (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy) suffered the loss allowing 10 hits and striking out four. Fellow senior Amanda Martinenza (Boothwyn, PA/Garnet Valley) had a double in the loss.
In game two, the Red Hawks scored five times in the second inning with four coming on a grand slam home run by Jackie Ferranti to earn the sweep. DSU tallied its lone run in the fourth on as senior Jennifer Cybularz (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Carroll) came around to score on an MSU error. Cybularz finished the game 2-for-3 and had three hits on the afternoon.
DeSales is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, March 28th when they travel to Albright College for another non-conference doubleheader beginning at 2:30 pm.
