Softball swept at King’s in Freedom Conference Season Opener

Senior Amanda Martinenza had two RBI's in the game two loss at King's College on Wednesday afternoon.
 
 
Wilkes-Barre, PA (March 28, 2007) – The DeSales University softball team suffered a sweep in the 2007 Freedom Conference season opener at King’s College on Wednesday afternoon dropping game one, 2-0, and game two, 13-2.
 
        In the opener, the Bulldogs surrendered one unearned run and another run on a misjudged fly ball in the swirling winds at King’s, while also leaving 10 men on-base.  DSU (4-6, 0-2 Freedom) out-hit the Lady Monarchs (11-5, 2-0 Freedom) in the first game with nine hits to KC’s six, but were never able to push a run across home plate.
 
        In the second game, KC pounded out 10 hits and 13 runs including a seven-run outburst in the third inning to break the game open.  Freshman Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) suffered the loss in the game two loss.
 
        In the opener sophomore Amanda Kensecki (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) and senior Jennifer Cybularz (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Carroll) each had two hits to lead the offensive attack, while sophomore Kelly Moran (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) was 2-for-2 with a run scored and senior Amanda Martinenza (Boothwyn, PA/Garnet Valley) had one hit and two RBI’s in game two.
 
        DSU returns to action on Saturday, March 31st when they travel to Delaware Valley College for a Freedom Conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
