Center Valley, PA (March 30, 2007) – Junior JT Brotosky (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) went 3-for-4 with five RBI’s earning Cambridge Search player of the game honors and leading the DeSales University baseball team past Delaware Valley College, 17-8, in Freedom Conference action on Friday afternoon.
Brotosky started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when he laced a two-out triple to right field plating two runs and igniting a two-out rally that ended with the scoreboard reading, 7-0. Freshman Doc Neiman (Center Valley, PA/Southern Lehigh) also knocked in two runs with a single and senior Matt Lezinsky (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) and junior Andrew Heard (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield) each knocked in runs during the inning.
The Aggies (4-5, 0-2 Freedom) answered the seven-run outburst with five unearned runs in the top of the second inning courtesy of three Bulldog errors to cut the lead to 7-5 but DSU put two more on the board on a Brotosky two-RBI double in the bottom of the inning pushing the score to 9-5.
After DVC scored twice in the top of the fifth inning, DeSales (7-5, 2-0 Freedom) put the game away with six runs on a two-RBI single from sophomore Matt Connors (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) and a two-RBI double from Lezinsky giving DSU a 15-7 lead.
Sophomore James Niesuchouski (Chester, VT/St. Dominic) earned his third win of the season with five solid innings allowing just seven hits and no earned runs. The Bulldog bullpen combined to allow just three hits and one run over the last four innings to go along with five strikeouts.
Brotosky is now batting a team-high .441 after his 3-for-4 performance on Friday. Heard finished the game with 4-for-5 with two runs scored, Lezinsky finished 2-for-4 with three RBI’s and Neiman was 2-for-4 with three RBI’s to lead the offensive attack.
DeSales returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Delaware Valley College for the final two games of three game set this weekend beginning at 1:00 pm.
