Allentown, PA (March 31, 2007) – Freshman Meghan Weber (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) finished among the top four in three different events to lead the DeSales University women’s track & field team at the Muhlenberg College Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
No team scoring was kept as Weber led the way for the Bulldogs. She took home second place in the hammer throw (36.75 meters), second in the discus (33.22 meters) and fourth in the shot put (10.12 meters). Freshman Kristen Jordan also took home a top eight finish with a seventh place showing in the javelin (27.26 meters).
Other top finishers include freshman Chrissy Meehan in seventh place in the long jump (4.34 meters), freshman Samantha Ward (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) in second place in the pole vault (9-00.00 feet), and freshman Amanda Torok (Souderton, PA/Souderton) in third place in the pole vault (8-00.00 feet). Sophomore Brianna Valasek (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) rounded out the top finishers in the field events with a sixth place finish in the high jump (4-06.00).
Freshman Alessandro LaMastro (Flanders, NJ/Pope John XXIII) took home fifth place in the 5,000-meters in a time of 19:25.32, junior Nikki Sansone (Chester Springs, PA/Bishop Shanahan) was third in the 100-meter hurdles (16.45) and senior Eileen Lavelle (Tarrytown, NY/Sleepy Hollow) was fourth in 100-meter dash (13.41).
Freshman Jeanine Walsh (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) was sixth in the 1,500-meter run (5:12.84), junior Laura Durso (Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley) was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:18.25) and Lavelle rounded out the top individual performers with an eighth place finish in the 200-meter dash (28.13).
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, April 4th when they travel to the Elizabethtown College quad meet beginning at 3:00 pm.
