Bats stay hot as Softball wins third straight, 10-4, over Arcadia

Sophomore Amanda Kensecki went 2-for-4 with three runs scored in the win on Wednesday.
 
Center Valley, PA (April 25, 2007) – The DeSales University softball team continued to swing some hot bats scoring 10 more runs on Wednesday afternoon to win its third straight game, 10-4, over Arcadia University in non-conference action.
 
        The Bulldogs (12-15 overall) had 11 more hits on Wednesday after scoring 17 runs in its doubleheader sweep over Lycoming College on Saturday.  Arcadia falls to 28-7 overall with the loss.  Game two was cancelled as rain began to fall midway thru the afternoon in the Lehigh Valley.
 
        DSU started the scoring early and often with five runs in the first and two more in the second inning to build a 7-1 lead after two innings.  In the first frame, sophomore Amanda Kensecki (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty), freshman Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) and freshman Kyra Monarek (Allentown, PA/Parkland) each had RBI’s and Andrews plated the fifth run by stealing home plate.
 
        Sophomore Kelly Moran (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) got into the action in the second with a two-RBI double plating senior Jennifer Cybularz (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Carroll) and Kensecki and sophomore Maddie Roxandich (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) and senior Amanda Martinenza (Boothwyn, PA/Garnet Valley) each had RBI’s later in the game to provide the final margin.
 
        Senior Elise Wilk (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy) continued her hot pitching improving to 9-8 on the season with another complete-game victory as she scattered eight hits over seven innings allowing three earned runs and striking out three.  She is now tied for second all-time with 29 career victories and stands just 12 strikeouts shy of 200 for her career.
 
        Roxandich, Cybularz, Kensecki and Martinenza each had two hits in the win on Wednesday as Kensecki scored three runs and Cybularz crossed home plate twice on the afternoon.
 
        The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, April 28th when they travel to The University of Scranton for a Freedom Conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
