Two Big Innings lift Moravian past DeSales, 14-5, at Limeport Stadium

Junior Scott Matejicka had three more hits on Tuesday to push his season average to .440.
 
Limeport, PA (April 24, 2007) – The Moravian College baseball team scored seven runs in the fourth and six more runs in the fifth, turning a 2-1 deficit into a 14-2 lead and ultimately a 14-5 win over the DeSales University Bulldogs on Tuesday evening under the lights at Limeport Stadium.
 
        The Bulldogs fall to 20-10 overall, while Moravian improved to 13-19 overall.  The Greyhounds finished with 17 hits in the win, 13 of which came during the fourth and fifth innings.
 
        DSU took an early 2-0 lead when junior Scott Matejicka (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) and sophomore Greg Treat (Concord, NH/Concord) each hit RBI singles in the bottom of the first inning.  Moravian answered with a solo run in the top of the second to pull within one run when David Lengvel knocked in Joseph Durso with a single to right-center field.
 
        After an uneventful third inning, the Greyhounds started the fourth inning with a double and four straight singles and the Bulldogs made the inning worse with three errors as MC took an 8-2 lead.  DSU went in order in the bottom of the fourth inning and Moravian batted around for the second straight time scoring six runs on six hits and one Bulldog error.
 
        Freshman Doc Neiman (Center Valley, PA/Southern Lehigh) got the Bulldogs back on the board in the eight with a two-RBI single and Treat knocked in his second run of the game in the ninth to provide the final margin.
 
        Freshman Charles Swenson (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) took the loss last just three innings allowing six hits and five earned runs.  Neiman and Matejicka led the offensive attack as they each had three hits.

        The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, April 25th when they host Ursinus College in another non-conference game
