Center Valley, PA (April 29, 2007) – The DeSales University softball team finished off its 2007 home schedule in style with a sweep of York College (PA) in a non-conference doubleheader by scores of 8-4 and 2-1 on senior day Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs are now 15-16 overall, while the Spartans fall to 16-21 overall with the two losses.  DSU has one doubleheader remaining on its schedule and with a sweep can finish over the .500 mark for the first time since the 2004 season.

In game one, senior Elise Wilk (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy) improved to 10-9 on the season with the win scattering 10 hits and four runs over seven innings to go along with two strikeouts.  The Bulldogs trailed 2-1 entering the bottom of the third inning when they scored four times and never looked back in game one.

After sophomore Kelly Moran (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) hit her sixth home run of the season in the bottom of the second inning, freshman Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) had a two-RBI double and senior Amanda Martinenza (Boothwyn, PA/Garnet Valley) knocked in Andrews with another double to highlight the four-run third.

DSU added two more runs on RBI hits from sophomore Amanda Kensecki (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) and senior Jennifer Cybularz (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Carroll) and finished its scoring with a solo run in the sixth on an RBI single from sophomore Maddie Roxandich (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic).

In game two, freshman Kristen Cybularz (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Carroll) was the story allowing just one run and seven hits over seven innings to earn her first collegiate win in the circle.  She allowed a first inning run to the Spartans and that was it, striking out three and walking just one.

The Bulldog offense got her all the support she needed in the fourth inning when senior Jaime Stover (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) singled home Andrews and Martinenza scored on an error after singling and stealing second base.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday, May 2nd when they travel to Albright College for a non-conference doubleheader and its final games of the season beginning at 3:00 pm.
