Elizabethtown, PA (April 4, 2007) – The DeSales University men’s track and field team took home fourth place out of five teams at the Elizabethtown College Pentangular hosted on Wednesday afternoon at Elizabethtown College.
The Bulldogs along with Messiah College, Elizabethtown College, Susquehanna University and Juniata College all competed on Wednesday afternoon. Several Bulldogs finished among the top six including senior John Deas (Haverford, PA/Archbishop Carroll) in third place in the 400-meter dash (52.16).
Junior Frank McClatchy (Exton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) took home fourth in the 800-meter run (1:58.44), freshman Pat Hess (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) took home fourth in the 1,500-meter run (4:14.91) and senior Nick Reichert (Schuylkill Haven, PA/Schuylkill Haven) and junior John Nastus (Somerset, NJ/Rutgers Prep) were second and third in the 3,000-meter run (9:07.08 and 9:12.75).
Sophomore Pat Brophy (Broomall, PA/Marple Newtown) was in third place in the 110-meter hurdles (16.30) and fifth place in the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.52) to round out the top finishers in the running events.
In the field events, senior Gabe Gigliotti (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum) dominated once again taking home first in the shot put (45-09.00 feet), first in the discus (134-09.00 feet) and third place in the hammer throw (121-05.00 feet).
Junior Jeremy Morse (Ashland, MA/Ashland) was second in the high jump (5-10.75 feet), freshman Nick Staats (Montrose, PA/Montrose Area) and freshman Justin Del Piano (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick) were fourth and fifth in pole vault (12-05.50 and 10-11.75 feet) and sophomore Evan Klees (Riverside, PA/Danville) was fourth in the long jump (18-10.00 feet).
Senior Colin Durner (Denton, MD/Saints Peter and Paul) took home fourth in the hammer throw (120-11.00 feet) and freshman Steven Modrow (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) was second in the discus (125-03.00 feet) to round out the top finishers.
The Bulldogs return to action on Friday, April 13th when they travel to the Distance Classic at Bucknell Univeristy and on Saturday, April 14th when they travel to the US Merchant Marine Invitational.
