Volleyball Wins Third Straight, Blanks Kings 3-0 in Conference Opener

Freshman Kylie Fehnel was fantastic on Wednesday evening totaling 17 kills, 11 digs and five blocks in the 3-0 win over King's.
Center Valley, PA (September 12, 2007) – The DeSales University volleyball team made it three straight wins on Wednesday evening blanking King's College, 3-0 (30-21, 30-20, 30-27), in the 2007 Freedom Conference opener for both teams in Billera Hall.
 
        Junior Joann Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom), sophomore Jen Mellon (Media, PA/Penncrest) and freshman Kylie Fehnel (Nazareth, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) were the story as they combined to tally 42 kills and just one error on the evening to lead the offensive attack.
 
        Fehnel was terrific on Wednesday night leading the way with a match and season-high 17 kills without an error in 29 attempts to go along with 11 digs and five total blocks. Mellon added 14 kills also without an error in 33 attempts and Rivera finished with 11 kills and just one error in 31 attempts. Rivera added five service aces and one block.
 
        Sophomore Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) led the defensive attack once again totaling a team-high 22 digs, while senior Allie Boyer (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) totaled 15 digs and freshman Alyssa Poplaski (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) added 13 digs and six kills. Junior Sharon Uliana (Fleetwood, PA/Reading Central Catholic) continued her stellar play totaling 36 assists and seven digs.
 
        DSU will take its three-match winning streak on the road this weekend when they travel to Marymount University for a tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
