Womens Tennis Falls for First Time in 2007, 5-3, to Moravian

Senior Liz Guidon won a hard fought match at the No. 2 singles position on Thursday afternoon.
Center Valley, PA (September 13, 2007) – The DeSales University women's tennis team fell just short and lost for the first time in 2007 falling to local rival Moravian College, 5-3, in a non-conference match on Thursday afternoon.
 
        Senior Courtney McClurkin (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford) continued her excellent play winning easily at both the #1 singles spot and #1 doubles spot. She defeated Dyana Swan, 6-1, 6-0 in singles and teamed with freshman Kate Steiner (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) to win 8-0 in doubles action over Swan and Lindsey Hopper.
 
        Senior Liz Guidon (Northampton, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) was the other winner for the Bulldogs outlasting the Greyhounds' MaryKate Kelly, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) at the No. 2 singles spot. One match was unfinished due to darkness with the match already decided as freshman Jess Smith (Abbottstown, PA/Delone Catholic) was leading Rebecca Angstadt, 5-2, in the first set.
 
                DSU returns to action on Saturday, September 15th when they open Freedom Conference play with a home match vs. King's College beginning at 1:00 pm.
