Arlington, VA (September 16, 2007) – The DeSales University volleyball team swept host Marymount University, 3-0 (30-17, 30-25, 30-17), in its third match of the weekend at the Marymount University Invitational on Saturday and Sunday to finish with a 2-1 record over the weekend.
Three different players totaled double digit kills in the three-game win including sophomore Jen Mellon (Media, PA/Penncrest) with a team-high 12 kills, freshman Kylie Fehnel (Nazareth, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) with 11 kills and 10 digs and freshman Lauren Pacenta (Pottsville, PA/Nativity BVM) with 10 kills.
Sophomore Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) and freshman Alyssa Poplaski (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) led the defensive attack with Andrews garnering 18 digs and Poplaski totaling 17 digs. Junior Sharon Uliana (Fleetwood, PA/Reading Central Catholic) continued her steady play at the setter position with 39 assists.
Fehnel (double digit kills and digs in the Bulldogs two wins) and Andrews (69 digs in three matches including a school-record 41 in the win over Dickinson) were each named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Arcadia University for a Freedom Conference match beginning at 7:00 pm.
