Rivera/Mellon lead DeSales past Arcadia, 3-0

Junior Joann Rivera had a team-high 18 kills in the 3-0 win over Arcadia University on Tuesday evening.

Glenside, PA (September 18, 2007) – Junior Joann Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) and sophomore Jen Mellon (Media, PA/Penncrest) totaled 33 kills to lead the DeSales University volleyball team past Arcadia University, 3-0 (30-24, 30-17, 30-20), in a Freedom Conference match on Tuesday evening.

Rivera totaled a team-high 18 kills and Mellon added 15 in the win. Freshman Kylie Fehnel (Nazareth, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) had eight kills and six digs. On defense sophomore Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) (13 digs), senior Allie Boyer (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) (11 digs) and freshman Alyssa Poplaski (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) (10 digs) each had double digit digs in the win.

Rivera also had a team-high five service aces, Boyer totaled four service aces and junior Sharon Uliana (Fleetwood, PA/Reading Central Catholic) dished out 46 assists and had seven digs.

DSU returns to action on Thursday, September 20^th when they face Gwynedd-Mercy College in a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
