BOX SCORE

Center Valley, PA (September 22, 2007) – In the first home game of the season for the DeSales University field hockey team, the Bulldogs were unable to find the back of the cage as Widener University continued its undefeated season with a 2-0 win in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon.

DSU falls to 3-5 overall with the loss, while the Pride improve to 7-0 overall. DSU did hold a 15-14 edge in shots, while Widener led in penalty corners, 11-10. Mallory Meyer started the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 21:40 mark and Erica Rose tallied the second goal just 44 seconds before the half on a pass from Kelly Eash.

DeSales almost scored the game's first goal about eight minutes into the contest as freshman Kelsey Strowhouer (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) took a shot that got past the Pride goalkeeper but Colleen Guille was in position for the defensive save to keep the Bulldogs off the board. Freshman Molly Pope (Elkridge, MD/Long Reach) made six saves in between the pipes for the Bulldogs.

DSU will return to action and to the road on Wednesday, September 26th when they travel to Stevens Institute of Technology for a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
