Field Hockey drops 4-1 decision at Stevens Tech

Freshman Jamie Matthews scored her third goal of the season in the loss at Stevens Tech.

Hoboken, NJ (September 26, 2007) – The DeSales University field hockey team dropped a 4-1 decision at Stevens Institute of Technology in a non-conference game on Wednesday afternoon.
 
        The Ducks (7-2 overall) took a 3-0 lead at the half and made it 4-0 early in the second half before the Bulldogs (3-6 overall) scored its lone goal of the game at the 69:10 mark as freshman Jamie Matthews (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown) scored her third goal of the season on an assist from senior Ashley Sparango (Salfordville, PA/Souderton).
 
        The Bulldogs did a hold a 24-19 edge in shots in the game but were unable to find the cage more than once. Both teams had nine penalty corners. Sophomore Molly Pope (Elkridge, MD/Long Reach) made eight saves in the loss.

        The Bulldogs return home on Saturday, September 29th when they host Lebanon Valley College in a non-conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
