Field Hockey falls to #6 Lebanon Valley, 4-2

Freshman Amy Pulcini had a goal and an assist in the 4-2 loss to Lebanon Valley College.

Center Valley, PA (September 29, 2007) – The DeSales University field hockey team suffered its third straight loss falling to sixth ranked Lebanon Valley College, 4-2, in a non-conference game on a beautiful Saturday afternoon on Homecoming weekend.
 
        After falling behind 2-0 in the first half, the Bulldogs (3-7 overall) played a touch second half and tied the Flying Dutchmen (8-0 overall) in the second stanza with two goals each to post the final 4-2 margin. LVC out-shot DeSales, 22-7, and held a 7-1 edge in penalty corners on the afternoon.
 
        Trailing 3-0, freshman Jamie Matthews (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown) got DSU on the board when she tipped home a centering pass from fellow freshman Amy Pulcini (Easton, PA/Easton) at the 60:34 mark. LVC added another marker just four minutes later before Pulcini scored an unassisted goal at the 65:54 mark for the Bulldogs.
 
        Sophomore Molly Pope (Elkridge, MD/Long Reach) made six saves in between the pipes for the Bulldogs, while Caitlin Baro stopped one DSU shot for the visitors. Freshman Laura Gibbs (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) also played well recording a defensive save in the first half for the Bulldogs.

        DeSales returns to action on Tuesday, October 2nd when they host Neumann College in a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
