Center Valley, PA (September 6, 2007) – The DeSales University women's tennis continued its unbeaten season blanking Immaculata University, 9-0, in a non-conference match on a perfect Thursday afternoon.
DSU (3-0 overall) swept all three doubles matches and lost just three games in the singles competition to record the win. Senior Courtney McClurkin (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford) moved within two wins of 50 for her career as she won 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot. Fellow senior Mary Kate McElvaney (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert) won at the No. 3 spot, 6-0, 6-1 and teamed with McClurkin to win 8-2 at the No. 1 doubles spot.
Senior Liz Guidon (Northampton, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) earned her first singles win of the season with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot and teamed with sophomore Nickie Brackbill (Paradise, PA/Pequea Valley) to win 8-0 at the No. 2 doubles spot.
At the No. 4 singles spot freshman Kate Steiner (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) won 6-0, 6-0, and freshman MaryKate Boylan (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South) won at the No. 6 spot, 6-0, 6-1. Steiner and Boylan teamed at the No. 3 doubles position to win 8-0.
Freshman Jess Smith (Abbottstown, PA/Delone Catholic) rounded out the winners with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 5 singles spot.
DSU returns to action on Saturday when they travel to the Haverford College Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
