Baltimore, MD (September 8, 2007) – The DeSales University men's soccer team continued to have trouble finding the back of the net suffering its fourth straight loss, 2-1, to Buffalo State College in the opening game of the Citrano Medical Labs Kickoff Classic at Johns Hopkins University.
The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead early in the second half when freshman Nicholas Lanza (Doylestown, PA/LaSalle) sent a corner kick into the front of the net. The ball was grabbed by the Buffalo State keeper but he stepped across the goal line for an OWN goal and a 1-0 lead for the Bulldogs.
About 12 minutes later Buffalo State tied the score when John Taggert scored on an assist from Peter Anthony and BSC wasted no time taking the lead for good when Joshua Mitchell took a long pass from Zackary Eastman in the 65th minute and deposited it into the back of the net for a 2-1 lead.
DeSales was unable to get the tying goal settling for its third one goal loss of the season. Sophomore Kevin Lawrence (Norristown, PA/Kennedy-Kenrick) made seven saves in between the pipes in his first career start for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Sunday when they take on tournament host Johns Hopkins University at Homewood Field beginning at 4:00 pm.
