Baltimore, MD (September 9, 2007) – The DeSales University men's soccer team fell to ninth ranked Johns Hopkins University, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Citrano Medical Labs Kickoff classic hosted by Hopkins at Homewood Field.
The Bulldogs (0-5 overall) played a tough first-half matching every Blue Jays (5-0 overall) offensive surge with a surge of its own only to see the game tied at the half. In the second half, JHU struck first as Scott Bukoski took a pass from Mick Gauna and fired a shot to the far post that found the back of the net at the 67:24 mark.
Hopkins added an insurance goal at the 82:37 mark when Gauna found David Drake on a throw-in and his shot went into the net just inside the left post. Johns Hopkins out-shot DeSales, 26-11, in the game and held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
Senior Rusty Riedmiller (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) made 11 saves in between the pipes for the Bulldogs.
DeSales returns to action on Tuesday, September 11th when they host Lebanon Valley College in a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
