Dishman/Millili help DeSales Top Wilkes, 1-0, for First Time

Wilkes-Barre, PA (October 14, 2008) – Senior Katie Dishman (Nazareth, PA/Pen Argyl) scored from 25-yards out in the 66th minute leading the DeSales University women's soccer team past Wilkes University, 1-0, for the first time in 12-career meetings with the Colonels on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs improve to 6-5-1 overall but more importantly stay undefeated in Freedom Conference play as they move to 3-0 in the Freedom. Wilkes falls to 5-9-1 overall and 1-3 in the Freedom with the loss.

Dishman's goal was the third of the season and the second game-winner for the senior. Her goal held up in front of a fantastic effort by the DSU defense and freshman goalkeeper Melissa Millili (Deptford, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) who recorded her first career shutout with four saves. It was the fourth shutout for the Bulldogs overall this season.

Today's game was the 12th career meeting with Wilkes and marks the fifth time the game was decided by one goal, but the first with DeSales in front on the scoreboard. The two teams did play to a 1-1 double overtime tie in 2005.

The Bulldogs will look to stay unbeaten in Freedom Conference play next time out when they Misericordia University in a Freedom Conference game on Saturday beginning at Noon.
