Purchase, NY (October 22, 2008) – The three-time defending Freedom Conference champion DeSales University men's soccer team suffered its sixth straight loss falling at Manhattanville College, 3-0, seriously jeopardizing its chances of earning a Freedom Conference playoff spot on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs are now 5-11 overall but more importantly fall to 1-4 in the Freedom standings with just three games remaining on their Freedom Conference schedule. Manhattanville improves to 9-6-1 overall and 3-2 in the Freedom with the win.

A scoreless game in the first half was opened up just 2:34 into the second half when Kenneil Haye scored on a header off a centering pass from Sebastian Chica for his sixth goal of the year. The game remained a one-goal contest until very late in the second half when Chica provided some insurance with his seventh marker of the year on a shot from about 25 yards out beating the DSU keeper just inside the far post with 7:24 left to play.

MC added one more tally just 1:25 later when Shaune Allen scored his third goal of the year off a feed from Adam Kent providing the final margin. Shots were about even, 11-10, in favor of the hosts, while the Valiants had a 7-2 edge in corner kicks. Juniors Keith Barry (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) and Kevin Lawrence (Norristown, PA/Kennedy-Kenrick) each saw time in goal for the Bulldogs. Barry allowed one goal and made one save, while Lawrence allowed the last two goals and stopped three shots.

DSU will look to make a final playoff run beginning on Saturday when they travel to Delaware Valley College for a Freedom Conference game beginning at 2:30 pm.
