Doylestown, PA (October 26, 2008) – The DeSales University men's soccer team kept its Freedom Conference playoff hopes alive entering the final week of the season with a 3-0 win over Delaware Valley College on Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs snap a six-game losing skid with the win and improve to 6-11 overall and 2-4 in the Freedom standings. DSU controls its own destiny heading into the final week needing just wins in its final two Freedom Conference games to earn a Freedom Conference playoff spot. The Bulldogs will host Eastern University on Tuesday and King's College on Saturday in their quest for a post-season berth.

After a scoreless first half, DeSales got on the board in the 56th minute when junior Dustin Sturm (North Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May) scored his sixth goal of the year off a feed from senior German Reyes (Beach Lake, PA/Honesdale).

Less than two minutes later in the 58th minute fellow junior Marc Leonard (Bonville, VT/Burr and Burton Academy) gave DSU a two-goal cushion with his four tally of the year on an assist from senior Chris Ravita (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon). Freshman Derek Long (Wernersville, PA/Conrad Weiser) finished off the scoring in the 75th minute when knocked home his 10th goal of the year on a pass from senior David Ackley (North Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May).

The Bulldogs had a big 14-2 edge in shots on the afternoon and held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks. Junior Keith Barry (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) made two saves in recording his third shutout of the season.

DSU will return to action on Tuesday, October 28th when they host Eastern University in a Freedom Conference game beginning at 3:00 pm.
