Bulldogs Win Third Straight, 3-0 over Manhattanville

Freshman Cait Trovato had six digs and two aces on her birthday on Tuesday.

Center Valley, PA, (October 7, 2008) – The DeSales University volleyball team won its third straight match and its six in the last seven with a 3-0 (25-6, 25-16, 25-9) win over Manhattanville College in a Freedom Conference match on Tuesday evening in Billera Hall.

The Bulldogs improve to 15-9 overall and 4-1 in the Freedom Conference, while the Valiants fall to 5-13 overall and 1-4 in the Freedom. DSU hit .316 as a team and 13 service aces in the win.

Leading the way was senior Joann Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) with a match-high 12 kills and just one error for a .524 hitting percentage to go along with a match-high five service aces. Senior Ashley Grube (Orwigsburg, PA/Blue Mountain) added 11 kills and totaled three blocks and freshman Lauren Hickey (Ridley Park, PA/Ridley) had six kills.

Junior Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) totaled 18 digs and two service aces, senior Sharon Uliana (Fleetwood, PA/Reading Central Catholic) had 31 assists and freshman Cait Trovato (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame) celebrated her birthday with two aces and six digs in the win.

DeSales returns to the court this weekend when they travel to Widener University for a non-conference tri-match with Gwynedd-Mercy College beginning at Noon.
