Center Valley, PA (March 12, 2008) – The DeSales University men's lacrosse team won its home opener over Immaculata University, 10-5 on Wednesday afternoon in Center Valley, bringing their record to 3-2 overall.
The Bulldogs started their scoring early with three goals in the first period and were able to hold onto their lead for the rest of the game. Senior
Dan Thomer (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) led the team in scoring with four goals and added one assist. Fellow senior
Sam Gobeli (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Curley) led in the assists column recording three.
Sophomore
Matthew Kruszewski (Atco, NJ/Winslow Township) and freshman
Whit Bruemmer (Richboro, PA/Council Rock South) also contributed offensively with two goals apiece. Senior
Jay Young (Pittstown, NJ/North Hunterdon) and junior
Matthew Brancaccio (Greenvale, NY/North Shore) added one goal each in the win.
Junior
Shane Corley (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) scooped up a team-high six ground balls. Senior James Ramsey
(Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) and freshman
Donald Clemens (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) also each contributed five ground balls.
Sophomore goalie
Jarryd Stamatelos (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) earned eight saves in the game. Corley (7-for-8) led the face-off attack for the Bulldogs.
DSU returns to action on Monday, March 17th when they host Centenary College at 3:30 pm.
