Center Valley, PA (September 13, 2008) – Ursinus College scored three straight goals over the first 25 minutes of the second half to extend a 1-0 halftime lead into a 4-0 lead and held on late defeating the DeSales University men's soccer team, 4-2, in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon.

UC (3-2 overall) got on the board at the 9:55 mark of the first half when Christopher Polster scored on a header off a cross from Dustin Young. The score remained a one-goal game into the second half before Jean Carlo Cordova scored off an assist from Polster to make it 2-0.

The game's momentum seemed about to change just after the second Bear goal when the Bulldogs (4-3 overall) were awarded a penalty kick and a chance to cut the margin in half, but sophomore Aaron Gildner (Slatington, PA/Parkland) sent his PK wide and Ursinus took the momentum right back scoring two more goals in the 67th and 72nd minute to open up an insurmountable 4-0 lead.

Freshman Gregory Germscheid (Mullica Hill, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) got DSU on the board at the 77:25 mark off an assist from senior Andrew Marshall (Greene, NY/Greene Central) and junior Dustin Sturm (North Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May) scored on a penalty kick with six seconds left to provide the final margin.

DSU did out-shoot Ursinus, 19-10, and also had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks, but the Bears made the most of their chances as the Bulldogs keepers made just one save on the afternoon as compared to seven for Ursinus.

DSU returns to action on Thursday when they host nationally ranked Messiah College in another non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
