Center Valley, PA (September 27, 2008) – The DeSales University men's soccer team shook off its recent slow starts and jumped out early on Saturday storming FDU-Florham for three first-half goals en route to a 4-1 win over the Devils in a Freedom Conference game.

Sophomore Corey Horn (Macungie, PA/Emmaus) started the scoring as he scored his second goal of the year on a low shot just inside the left post to put DSU up 1-0 at the 7:03 mark.

Senior German Reyes (Beach Lake, PA/Honesdale) made the second goal happen as a terrific move past a Devil defender saw him roaming free on the left side of the box as he fired a pass to the middle where freshman Derek Long (Wernersville, PA/Conrad Weiser) easily knock him his seventh goal of the year to put the home team up two.

Long struck again at the 38:01 mark when juniors Marc Leonard (Bondville, VT/Burr and Burton Academy) and Dustin Sturm (North Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May) set him up in front of the goal mouth once again when Leonard sent a beautiful crossing pass to the far post from the left sideline where Sturm was waiting for it uncontested and he first a header back across the goal mouth to Long who was again in perfect position to volley home a shot into the back of the net.

The Devils briefly tasted a comeback early in the second half when John Gaw scored on a penalty kick, but the two-goal margin was quickly increased back to three when Sturm took a pass from Leonard on the right side of the box and hit a low bouncing shot that kicked up over the keeper's head, caromed off the cross bar and landed in the net for his third goal of the year.

DSU out-shot its visitor, 16-10, while the Devils had a 5-3 advantage on corner kicks. Junior Keith Barry (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) continued his excellent play in goal making three saves in the win.

DSU returns to the pitch on Wednesday, October 1st when they host Arcadia University in a non-conference game beginning at 3:30 pm.
